Śląska godka jest zagrożona wymarciem? Przekonajmy o tym Google!

Potentat internetowy Google uruchomił właśnie projekt Endagered Languages, który ma za zadanie ochronę wymierających języków. Naukowcy stwierdzili, że do 2100 roku przetrwa jedynie połowa z 7 tysięcy języków, jakimi w obecnej chwili posługują się mieszkańcy naszej planety.

Wśród języków zagrożonych pojawił się również język ukryty pod nazwą "Silesian" przez co niektóre regionalne media ogłosiły już, że język śląski znalazł się na liście stworzonej przez naukowców z Uniwersytetu Hawajskiego w Manoa i Wschodniego Uniwersytetu Michigan pod patronatem Google. - Uważny Czytelnik zauważy, że widnieje on pod kodem „sli”, który zarezerwowany jest dla dialektu śląskiego języka niemieckiego, czyli nie tego, który jest przez nas używany - napisał na swoim blogu Łukasz Tudzierz.

Wraz z innymi śląskimi blogerami Łukasz zainicjował akcję pisania e-maili, które mają przekonać Google, że na listę zagrożonych języków warto też dodać godkę śląską o kodzie "szl".

In Upper Silesia which is a part of Poland and the Czech Republic there is a language which is very vulnerable and might disappear before the end of the century. It is known as the Silesian language (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silesian_language) and has existed next to the one you provide information about (http://www.endangeredlanguages.com/lang/5386?hl=en) for a few centuries. The language has been recognized by SIL International (http://www.sil.org/iso639-3/​documentation.asp?id=szl) and assigned the SZL code.

Please note that because the Germanic Silesian has been always used mainly in Lower Silesia and the Slavic Silesian has been the main tongue of the Upper Silesians, the former is named Lower Silesian and the latter is Upper Silesian or even just Silesian.
